Punter wins £47k from £20 bet but just misses out on £516k windfall
A punter has kicked off 2024 in profitable fashion thanks to a miraculous accumulator bet.
The William Hill customer picked out five horses running at Wolverhampton to put in a January 2 acca.
The bet consisted of £3 win doubles, £1 each-way trebles, £2 each-way four-folds and a £4 each-way five-fold.
The first horse Rubelite won at odds of 8-1, the third selection Just A Spark struck at 13-2, fourth Reigning Profit at 17-2 and the last runner was a 12-1 winner.
Only Gold Standard, the second selection in the five-fold, let the punter down, finishing fourth at odds of 17-2.
