Max George and Maisie Smith have rumours they have split - over a year and a half after they first went public with their romance.

The duo got together last summer after a two-year friendship on the 2020 series of Strictly Come Dancing and have spend the last year flooding their Instagrams with snaps of their couple's holidays and racy PDAs. Max, 35, appeared to find happiness with Maisie, 22, following his split with Stacey Giggs.

However, over the last week fans have become concerned something has gone awol between the once close pair. Fans first became suspicious after Maisie and Max opted to spend New Year's Eve apart. Former EastEnders star Maisie spent the festive period with her family.

Fans have also noticed the once prolific poster hadn't been on social media for the past month, last posting six weeks ago.

Upon her return this week, the actress and TV star told fans she was 'so blessed' to spend another year with her dog, but there was no mention of Max as she shared her gratitude for the year gone by and the wonderful memories she made.

It's clear that eagle-eyed fans have noticed her absence online with one asking: "Do you not post on insta anymore?" While another asked if she was okay, commenting: "Shame ya lost that great smile you used to have in pictures."

Max, 35, who showed his devotion to Maisie by getting a tattoo of her face, has also been absent online in recent weeks which is in stark contrast to his previous social media presence as the couple became known for their expressive and loved-up snaps together. The Wanted singer last posted seven weeks ago and hasn't updated his fans over Christmas.

Last year, former EastEnders star Maisie made the huge decision to move away from her family and friends in Essex to live with Max in Manchester. Maisie made the move to focus on her future with Max and the pair shared hopes of buying a home together in the near future.

While fans are now questioning whether the pair have split, Maisie previously referred to Max as 'The One' and as her soulmate. "We have so many plans and I see so much of my future with him stuff I didn't even know I was capable of seeing. It still feels like the honeymoon stage. I don't know at what point that ends, but we're still there," she told Fabulous Magazine.

Despite their 13-year age difference often being a topic of discussion, Maisie said that she remained unfazed and in love with Max because they understood each other so well and were on the 'same level'.

"If it wasn't that, it would be something else," she shrugged. "People don't understand what goes on behind closed doors in a relationship, and I think they also forget that I'm a consenting 21-year-old woman who's actually been working longer than Max. I don't notice the age difference and neither do my friends or family. My mum Julia is the one who reads through all the comments. I got a message from her yesterday, saying: 'Just ignore them, you two were made for each other," Maisie insisted.

The Mirror has reached out to Maisie and Max's representatives for comment on this story.
