Luke Littler will secure an eye-watering £500k should he go all the way in the PDC World Darts Championship.

Rob Cross was the 16-year-old’s latest victim as he put on a show to win 6-2 at the Alexandra Palace. He joins Christian Kist, Andrew Gilding, Matt Campbell, Raymond van Barneveld and Brendan Dolan to have been downed by Littler on his dream run to the final.

Now, only Luke Humphries stands in his way - the new world number one out to stop Littler from becoming the youngest-ever player to win the World Championship. Away from the Sid Waddell Trophy, there is another huge prize on offer for both stars.

The winner of the competition will be handed a cheque for £500,000, while the runner-up is set to bag at least £200,000. Even if Littler finishes second, it would still represent the biggest payday of the youngster’s fledgling career.

His previous highest prize came from his two payouts of around £27,500 during the Modus Super Series in Portsmouth. Speaking after the dismissal of 2018 champion Cross, Littler revealed his amusing pre-match routine that he will go through ahead of Tuesday’s final.

As quoted by Sky Sports, he said: "I've just got to stay focused throughout the game, no matter how long it goes on for. I'll do what I've been doing. In the morning, go for a ham and cheese omelette, then come here have a pizza and then practice! That's what I've done every day."

He has also already revealed how he plans to celebrate with his close friends should he make history and win the tournament. Speaking before the semi-finals, Littler said: "All my friends are watching at home, we've always said we need to go Blackpool or Alton Towers so I think they will be looking at me like 'you're paying, Luke' and I'll be like, yeah, okay!"

Elsewhere, Humphries is expecting a tough examination from Littler despite dismantling Scott Williams 6-0 in his own semi-final. “The way he's [Littler] played, I've seen it many times,” Humphries said.

“When you come up on this stage it can be a lot tougher but he's just proved he's got a lot of bottle. Nothing is going to faze him. If he plays like he did tonight, tomorrow is not going to faze him at all, so I will probably have to play the game of my life.

"I will probably have to play like that again to stand a chance of beating him. I know what's in front of me and what the task is. I've got to play at my best tomorrow but I'm hoping I make him play his best as well and we give the fans hopefully one of the best World finals we have ever seen."

Wednesday’s epic final takes place at Alexandra Palace, with the match due to start at 7:30pm.
