Peep Show's Big Suze star has opened up about her in-laws, including King Charles.

Actress Sophie Winkleman became a household name following her appearance in the Channel 4 sitcom before moving to Los Angeles to appear alongside Ashton Kutcher in Two and a Half Men. But many forget to remember that Sophie, 43, is actually a member of The Royal Family and her husband is currently 53rd in line to the throne.

In a new interview, Sophie has reflected on her relationship with the Royals including how the late Queen Elizabeth stepped in to help her recover after a car crash. However, there are members of the family that Sophie, the sister of Claudia Winkleman is no longer as close to but tries to keep in touch with.

Many would correctly imagine that the King is often extremely busy but Sophie describes him as a "dear friend" and told Tatler that she spends "a bit of time with him". Sophie told the glossy outlet that she's "really good friends with all of them", before adding: "Behind the camera, they're really fun, clever, kind people. I love Sophie (Duchess of) Edinburgh, (Lady) Sarah Chatto, Zara (Tindall), the York girls (Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie), (Vice Admiral) Tim and Princess Anne, Fergie, all the Kents and Gloucesters. I love Catherine and William, but they're so busy and don't live in London, so I don't see them much."

The Prince and Princess of Wales moved to Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate, a far cry from their London home, Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace, a stone's throw from Buckingham Palace. But the late Queen Elizabeth proved to be more than just a caring in-law when Sophie suffered a near-fatal crash.

In 2016, after landing a part in a TV show she was left trapped in the backseat of an upside-down car with paramedics being forced to cut her out. Sophie stated she believed it was her "last few minutes". The actress spent three days in the hospital with Sophie, then Countess of Wessex visiting her, with Charles' personal chef making meals for the family. But after bumping into the late Monarch at an event, things took a drastic turn.

"She asked how I was, and she said, 'We can't have that. You have to go in the water,'" she said, before adding: "She told us that when horses had broken backs, they swam, and so she let me use her pool at Buckingham Palace. That's the reason I got better. It was so typically thoughtful." Sophie's injuries were so catastrophic, that she was unable to pick up her two children, Maud and Isabella.
