A Mercedes has been caught on camera being rammed repeatedly into the front of a "the best Pie and Mash shop ever" on New Year's Day.

Horrified onlookers filmed the carnage and can be heard shouting "Oh my God' and "Why?" as they watched the car driving forward the reversing and ploughing into the store again. The vehicle is eventually driven away and appears to smash into a parked car in a desperate bid to get away quickly.

In the footage, the tyres of the black Mercedes can be heard screeching as it bangs into various things in and around Brook Pie & Mash in Dagenham, east London. The car also doesn't appear to have a number plate on display. It is then driven away erratically as the motorists appears to show no regard for other road users or parked cars that are in their way.

Photos shared on social media after the New Year's incident show the green steel shutters, which normally protect the doorway, had been smashed open, with the inside of the building ruined. There is also shattered glass covering the floor. The shop is believed to have ben closed at the time and empty of both staff and passengers. The restaurant, on the border between Essex and London, is in Dagenham's top five restaurants according to TripAdvisor.
