Not all break-ups have to be acrimonious.

Chloe Madeley spent Christmas Day with her soon- to-be ex-husband James Haskell, as well as parents Richard and Judy. And she reckons the two of them have “nailed” co-parenting their daughter Bodhi, one, so soon after splitting. Chloe and James, who had been together for 10 years, ended their relationship in the summer.

They officially announced their separation in a joint statement in September to put an end to speculation after James was pictured out with another woman. “We really, really tried our best,” Chloe tells OK! magazine. “But ultimately, his life was going in one direction and mine was going in a completely different direction. It became very hard and it just stopped being good. It was quite bad. People seem to think that you should stay together for the children but actually, we made the decision for Bodhi more than anything.

“We want her to feel like she has a happy, healthy and loving family unit so we made the best decision for her. Making that decision is really hard but once it’s done, it’s done.” Chloe says she feels “lighter” and far more “happy” since splitting from James but she doesn’t see herself rushing into another relationship.

“For me, when I hear the word ‘single’, all I hear is that it’s me, I’m on my own and I’m free,” she says. “I have no interest in dating anyone. I feel no need to bring somebody new into the mix.”
