Fabio Carvalho is already being courted by Championship clubs after Liverpool cut his season-long loan at RB Leipzig short on New Year's Eve.

The former Fulham winger, 21, linked up with the Bundesliga outfit for the 2023/24 campaign in the summer but found first-team opportunities restricted in Germany, where he made just 15 appearances in total under Leipzig boss Marco Rose.

After weeks of speculation, Liverpool confirmed that Carvalho would return to Anfield on the eve of the January transfer window - but it remains to be seen whether or not the versatile forward will stay there long-term or head out on another temporary deal.

A new report from Sky Sports has outlined that Liverpool are currently considering all options when it comes to Carvalho, who is already attracting interest from the second tier.

Runaway Championship leaders Leicester City, who are currently eight points clear at the summit, are one of those courting Carvalho, while other teams have also been linked.

Carvalho has Championship pedigree after plundering 10 goals in 36 matches for Fulham during their title-winning campaign in the 2021/22 season and would represent a major coup for the majority of his suitors - if Liverpool decide another loan would be best for his development.

Despite his impressive form for Fulham, Carvalho has struggled to make an impact at Anfield and has made just 21 appearances in total for Jurgen Klopp. He scored three goals during the 2022/23 campaign but found his minutes limited during the second half of the season.

While a number of Liverpool players have been linked with January exits, the Reds have been linked with defensive reinforcements ahead of the winter transfer window. But Klopp attempted to play down such talk recently.

“Tell me a club who wants to sell a top, top centre-half who could play for Liverpool?,“ Klopp said in December. “It was never wonderland, where you bring in a world-class centre-half until the other is fit again. Other clubs don’t put them under the Christmas tree for us and say, ‘Take it and use it as long as you need it’.”

Liverpool head into January top of the Premier League after a strong run of form and kick off 2024 with a mouthwatering clash against Newcastle at Anfield on Monday night.
