Corrie fans 'work out' sad Aggie twist amid devastating Ed bombshell

Coronation Street viewers think they have figured out a sad Aggie Bailey twist after Ed Bailey told the truth to his family amid his gambling addiction on Friday night.

During the latest episode, the Bailey family were left reeling from the discovery of Ed's gambling. Michael was left furious while Dee-Dee was hurt that both Joel and Ronnie knew about Ed's gambling without telling her. After a heart-to-heart with Todd, Ed revealed he was hiding even more information from his family.

Later in the episode, Ed decided to come clean, revealing to his family that just last night he had emptied the business account and lost all the funds in a casino, causing a huge divide in the family. The episode ended with Dee-Dee wanting to help her father as they came up with a plan together while Michael wanted nothing to do with his dad.

However, soap watchers were quick to ask why no one in the family had told Aggie Bailey. Viewers will recall that Aggie has not been in the ITV soap for a while after an unexplained absence.

It was eventually revealed why Aggie had left and where she was, but this was all offscreen with her family, who remain onscreen, revealing details. Actress Lorna Laidlaw hasn't been on the show for months, last seen in June in scenes with onscreen husband Ed and neighbour Tim Metcalfe.

Since then, it was revealed that no return was currently planned for the character after she was unable to join her family for Christmas. ITV soap fans have been concerned over the future of the character on the ITV soap, and Aggie's disappearance has been mentioned in passing a few times since then by her family, but only to say she was caring for a relative, with no mention of when she'll return.

Taking to Twitter, now X, on Friday night after Ed's devastating bombshell, viewers were quick to demand that the Bailey family tell Aggie the truth, although they worried this might stop her from returning. One person said: "Is Ed the only one who speaks to Aggie. If this was my family I’d be off to find her and tell her exactly what’s been going on #Corrie", a different account put: "Someone’s gonna tell aggie and she’s never gonna return #Corrie" with upset emojis while another added: "Ed needs to stop lying to Aggie, like, no one in the family will tell her the truth anyway… #Corrie."
