Anthony Joshua has been told he should fight Daniel Dubois instead of Filip Hrgovic after his stunning win over Otto Wallin.

Former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua made it three wins out of three this year by beating up Wallin for five rounds before the Swede's corner pulled him out of their fight last weekend. Joshua was expected to fight Deontay Wilder next but the mega-fight is now seemingly off after Wilder suffered an upset loss to Joseph Parker just moments before Joshua fought Wallin.

Filip Hrgovic, who knocked out Mark De Mori in a farcical fight on Joshua's undercard, is expected to fight 'AJ' next for a world title. Queensbury Promotions boss Frank Warren has now suggested that Joshua should fight Dubois instead of Hrgovic after the Brit also got back to winning ways by beating drug cheat Jarrell Miller on the 'Day of Reckoning' event.

“For me, Dubois could fight any of those guys in the top 10. Even AJ would be a good fight. I’d watch that all day long,” Warren told talkSPORT. “I thought Daniel Dubois was brilliant. Absolutely magnificent. He proved to all his doubters that he does have heart in a tough, tough fight against a guy who is very good with his gamesmanship, was a tough competitor and made him fight all the way.”

Dubois was heavily criticised after coming up short in his world title fight to Oleksandr Usyk earlier this year. The fight was overshadowed by a controversial low blow from Dubois that he and Warren both insisted was a legal shot. Dubois was eventually stopped in the ninth round after taking a knee and not beating the count.

“He needed a confidence booster. That fight with Usyk, he gave Usyk his toughest fight. He hurt him to the body and for me, that was a legitimate punch. The referee giving [Usyk] more than four minutes to recover was ridiculous. That fight is gone, and he got a lot of stick afterwards about his desire, and whether he really wants to be at the top level," Warren added.

Dubois has been called a 'quitter' by fans throughout his boxing career because of the nature of his defeats against Usyk and Joe Joyce. Warren thinks the Brit silenced his doubters by beating Miller as he added: “Well, he showed that he does because that was a tough fight. He had to dig deep. He had to grit his teeth, and he did all those things.”
