He is the father of four daughters; Sarah, 59, Kimberly, 44, Ruby, 36, and Renee, 31 - and four sons; Sean, 43, Liam, 29, Alastair Wallace, 18, and Aiden Patrick, 12. He welcomed his eldest child, Sarah, with ex-girlfriend Susannah Boffey in the early 1960s, but wasn't part of her life for many years. Discussing fatherhood with People magazine in 2021, the star said: "I have to be several different fathers because of the different age groups of my kids. You really have to treat all of them as individuals with individual problems. All the [older] kids went through their little bad period of drinking too much and dabbling in drugs - except for Liam; I don't think he ever did - but they all came out on the other side. As a dad, I've learned to listen and not blow my top."
