Kate Middleton made a rookie parenting mistake on the school run with Princess Charlotte.

She began preparing for the daily run in the summer as she planned the daily trip to her daughter's school. Trips for essentials were made ahead ahead of the school visits and timings were made of her journeys before she set off as other parents did with their offspring.

But the Duchess of Cambridge made a 'rookie' mistake and one which would be typical among others taking their child to school. HELLO! reports Kate took Prince George and Princess Charlotte to purchase school shoes at Peter Jones in London weeks ago. The store is part of the John Lewis partnership, is also stocks George's school uniform. But she arrived at the shop without a crucial item required for their school uniform and forgot about the children's socks. . As she arrived to purchase the shoes, the children, who were wearing summer sandals, were forced to borrow a pair from the outlet to allow them to try on their smart shoes in the store.

It is expected to be an to be an emotional time for Kate as her three-year-old daughter Charlotte goes back to Willocks Nursery School. Five-year-old George, meanwhile, starts Year One at Thomas's Battersea. The royal mum is expected to do the school run to help her children settle into their new classes.

She was unable to drop off George on his first day of 'big school' as she had severe morning sickness while pregnant with Prince Louis. But she has quietly done the school run since then and waves goodbye to George at the school gates as often as she can. Kate is even rumoured to have dropped off him off the day after giving birth to baby Louis.
