Shane Warne's son makes unexpected find in late cricket legend's storage unit
Shane Warne's son Jackson has been taken aback after discovering a huge collection of golf clubs in his late dad's storage unit.
Warne died of a heart attack in 2022, at the age of just 52. While cricket was the sport in which he enjoyed a fruitful career for Australia, the leg spinner was also a keen golfer.
Jackson, along with sisters Brooke and Summer, has been going through the Aussie legend's storage units and has shared details of some of the discoveries. The 24-year-old, who is the second-oldest of the siblings, has also shared details of an initiative set up in his father's name to help others detect potential heart problems.
“We’re going through, at the moment, some of his storage units — because he’s just got storage units full of stuff," Jackson Warne told Channel 7. "He just collected and collected and collected.
“And some of the stuff we’re going through at the moment is golf clubs. And I am not kidding, he has probably got 300 drivers, 400 putters, 50 million golf bags — there is just an abundance of stuff.”

Jackson was speaking during a promotion of the Shane Warne Legacy initiative, whereby cricket fans can come in for heart tests stationed around the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Some 23 machines have been set up, in honour of the number Shane wore during his playing days, and fans don't need a match ticket to take advantage.

"So, even if you’re only watching this at home, you can still get your test outside of the MCG. Dad would be so honoured and so happy that now his legacy is saving lives.”
Shane Warne retired as the record test wicket taker with 708 dismissals, and remains second on the all-time rankings behind Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan. A multiple Ashes winner and 1999 World Cup winner with his country, he was given a state funeral back in Australia after dying on the Thai island of Koh Samui.

"And I thought instead of being sad or posting a story in black and white with a big caption with things that are quite obvious, I'm going to do what dad would have wanted me to do which is be happy and do things that make me happy.
"I've already gone to the gym, but I want to do three things that me and dad used to do together all the time. First one being Maccas [McDonald's]. We'd either get Maccas for lunch or dinner, but at some stage today we'll get Maccas because we loved Maccas.
"Second thing is dad's favourite TV show was Two and a Half Men, but it had to be the episodes with Charlie Sheen. He loved Charlie Sheen and loved Two and a Half Men, so I'll watch an episode of that.
"Thirdly, roulette. Roulette is on par for me and dad with poker and we just loved cheering on a 23 for a spin. So we'll go downstairs and see if we can hit a 23. Happy birthday dad."
