Hugh Jackman reunites with former 'date' ahead of first Christmas since divorce

This year to save himself from tears, Hugh Jackman reunited with his long-time gal pal Pat Schoenfeld on Christmas Eve as he spent his first festive season without his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness.

The Wolverine star seemed to be in high spirits ahead of the holidays as he was seen catching up with his lifelong bestie Pat. Pat is the widow of Gerald Schoenfeld who was a famous Broadway theatre owner and producer. Hugh and Pat have grown very close over the years bonding over their shared love for theatre with Hugh often referring to her as his "theatre date."

The 55-year-old star was all smiles as he shared a snap on Instagram of him wrapping his arm around Pat as they chatted and enjoyed a delicious meal together ahead of the holidays. Hugh looked comfy and cozy as he caught up with his friend sporting a long-sleeved knit white sweater and navy blue trousers. Pat opted for a more festive look for the occasion as she rocked a bright red turtleneck sweater for the outing.

Hugh and Pat have remained close friends since the death of her husband Gerald in 2008 whom Hugh was friends with for nearly a decade prior. After his tragic passing, the former The Greatest Showman actor wrote a heartfelt foreword in a biography written about his life titled "Mr. Broadway: The Inside Story of the Shuberts, the Shows, and the Stars by the late Gerald Schoenfeld."

In the sweet message featuring an inside joke with his longtime friend, the Australian actor wrote: "I knew Jerry for only ten years. He changed my life in so many ways; now it is really time for me to learn about the other seventy years. Thank you, Pat, for making this book happen...and secretly I will always picture you working on it...in your bathrobe!"

Hugh's precious post comes as he spends his first holiday season without his wife Deborra-Lee by his side. The former couple shocked the world with the news of their divorce earlier this year after sharing a joint announcement they were ending their marriage after 27 years together. Although the star seemed to take their breakup hard at first, Hugh seems to be bouncing back as he spends more time with friends and re-enters the dating scene.
