Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has extended a festive invite to a fellow Strictly dancer this year.

Amy, who was absent from this year's show as she undergoes cancer treatment, invited Carlos Gu to experience 'his first British Christmas' with her and her loved ones this year. Amy shared a sweet insight into her family festive celebrations on Instagram with a series of snaps, with Carlos seen enjoying the fun alongside Amy's husband Benjamin Jones and her twin sister Becky.

Sharing the post with her social media followers, Amy wrote: "Cherish every moment and everyone in your life! Merry Christmas all! We have @gkx_carlos with us having his first British Christmas! Sending Welsh love to all, especially thinking of those who may find this time of year difficult. #merrychristmaseveryone."

Fans have been delighted to see the two Strictly dancers sharing Christmas together, as one added: "How cute! Lovely that Carlos can spend it with you all. Have a lovely Christmas x". Another shared: "Merry Christmas to you, your husband and wonderful family and the lovely Carlos too xx". A third commented: "How lovely to share the love and have Carlos with you for Christmas. Enjoy your day, you deserve it".

The sweet post comes after Amy attended her last hospital appointment for her ongoing cancer treatment before Christmas. The professional dancer was supported by her husband as she tried to put a brave face on things with a cheerful Instagram post.

Amy was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May, before going through a full mastectomy. She was then later devastated with the news that she would need to undergo chemotherapy after doctors had found cancer elsewhere in her body.

The Strictly star has been open about her ongoing cancer treatment with regular posts to social media, including sharing how devoted husband Benjamin supports her. Speaking about his endless support, Amy told Women's Health: "He's been through so much with me with my Crohn's but I guess, like, nothing will ever break us now. If I mention something once, he'll buy it, or if it's a food I want, he's cooking it."

The happy-in-love couple have had to deal with some extremely difficult times together in the early stages of their marriage, with Amy receiving her cancer diagnosis before they'd even been married a year. Marking their one-year anniversary in July, Amy took to Instagram with a series of beautiful wedding snaps.

She wrote: "One year since our special day with our favourite people. What I would do right now to re-live this perfect day. Not the anniversary or year we certainly had planned but I am sure and determined to have many more better ones with you! Thank you for being by my side, spoiling me, being Mr positive when I'm not, and choosing to love me! Love you always."
