This is absolutely the hardest part about being in the comedy community. Your friends will break your heart with their own sadness."

A third typed a poignant message on X: "I just heard Neel Nanda passed away. When I was doing stand-up he was everywhere. He founded a podcast network and ran two of the best shows on the westside.

"Not only was he a great comedian, he worked harder than anybody else on the scene. Choosing this path, regardless of your level of talent, is so hard on your mental health," they continued. "The loneliness, the rejection, the financial struggle.

"This is the third comic I knew personally who has taken their life in the past four years. RIP to Richard Bain, Jak Knight, and now Neel Nanda, a genuinely sweet guy, and a really funny comic."
