Kerry Katona has urged people to "stop the hate" after she was branded "trash" for relieving herself at the side of a motorway.

The incident occurred when mum-of-five Kerry, who was on her way to perform as the Wicked Queen in a pantomime show in Ellesmere Port, got stuck in a two-hour traffic jam on the M56. She posted a video on Instagram documenting her toilet mishap which received mixed reactions from her 826,000 followers.

In the video, you could hear Kerry ask her daughters: "Can anyone see me?!" and "Can people see my bum and everything?! Whilst some of her fans were amused, others criticised her, calling her action 'embarrassing' and even referring to her as 'trash'.

Replying to the negative comments, Kerry recorded another video ahead of her Snow White show stating: "Stop with the hate people, it's so unnecessary, it was just a laugh and a joke, it's actually making me upset."

Questioning the double standards, she said: "It's ok for men to do that, but women who actually give life and bare children, we can't do it, it's not fair." She also tried to diffuse the situation by saying, "Calm down with the hate guys! I didn't even do it, it was just a joke, I didn't even pee."

Adding to the situation, one of her daughters stated: "If you gotta pee, you gotta pee." In response to the criticism, Kerry told her daughter: "Thank you, give me five!," before giving her a high-five. With firm resolve, she then stated: "And for all your vile people for saying nasty things about me and my children, my children love me."

Fans were quick to rally around Kerry. One wrote: "People are so sad and judgemental, I have been absolutely desperate for a wee whilst travelling and it was either having a wee in places you really don't want to or having an accident.... Get a reality check you judgemental people."

Another echoed the sentiment by stating: "Ignore the negative people there just sad and lonely little people who got nothing better to do than pull someone down." While a third shared: "The world is full of judgemental people. We'll never eradicate such imbeciles. Hey ho." Finally, another fan commented: "Honestly some people moan about anything - when you gotta go you gotta blinking go!!"
