Almost a week after sweeping to victory on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, Ellie Leach has revealed her most embarrassing moment with professional partner Vito Coppola from their intense training schedule.

The Coronation Street star was crowned the viewers' favourite and lifted the Glitterball Trophy after wowing the judges and those watching at home with her three dances in the final. Despite the sparkle of the competition, Ellie revealed in a Q&A with fans on an Instagram Live that it hasn't been as glamorous in the day-to-day training and rehearsals for the show.

The soap star - who is rumoured to be in a relationship with her Strictly partner - also revealed the most embarrassing moment she had with Vito, which left the pairing laughing hard even with the retelling of the moment in question.

Ellie told fans: "In the final week we were quite ill, we both had cold, we were both bunged up. In the show dance there was lots of twists and turns and when I turned, I snotted all over my face." With laughter consuming the pair, Ellie continued: "I kept messing up the steps because I got so embarrassed that I had snot all over me, and Vito was like "Why do you keep messing up? It's because I had snot all over me!'

Vito interrupted: "But I was confused because I thought, 'If everything is going right, why do you keep going wrong?' In the end there was just some fluid liquid everywhere!"

On Friday night, Vito also shared a video that he had recorded with Ellie after they finished their final rehearsal ahead of last week's Strictly final. The pair had their arms wrapped around each other in the video, after they had sparked romance rumours throughout the series, and were tearful as they recalled the moment.

They both said that this Strictly series had changed their lives and thanked fans for voting them as their favourite ahead of Bad Education star Layton Williams and EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier. Vito wrote in the caption: "A week ago, today, we got emotional after our last rehearsal…and we are more than happy to share this special moment with you all, beautiful people. He continued: "There are no words to describe all the feelings and the emotions…it’s just this. Thank you."

Ellie and Vito had to address rumours of their relationship during an appearance on ITV's This Morning, earlier in the week, with host Josie Gibson asking: "I've got to ask because the chemistry between you is magic. We've seen you on that dancefloor and it was so beautiful to watch. Is there any romance between you guys. Is the rumours true or not?"

Breaking her silence on the issue, Ellie replied: "Honestly, we've just been having the most amazing time dancing and we've built a really strong bond and a friendship that will last forever."

This was something that Vito agreed with, adding: "We have a really beautiful bond, a good bond. When you see a person and you connect with a person straight away. I'm a very first impression and when we met, we had that feeling that we knew each other for so long. I'm so so lucky to have you in my life."

Josie's co-host Craig Doyle also asked directly about how far their friendship had gone so far, questioning them with: "There's 100 per cent romance, 100 per cent... I can see it." The pair were quick to dismiss it, saying "No, no," before Ellie tried to bring some clarity to the situation, adding: "We've been through so much together, we've spent everyday together for the past three months. So we're really really lucky to have that bond that we've got and we'll be friends for life."
