Mum becomes millionaire after waking up feeling 'strange'

A mum-of-five has told how a 'Friday feeling' has made her a millionaire.

Ceri Ann Roscoe-Roberts immediately rolled over in bed, took her phone off her bedside table and purchased a EuroMillions ticket online. Twenty four hours later she was a millionaire.

Ceri had initially forgotten all about buying a ticket for that Friday’s special EuroMillions draw on 3 November, when 10 UK millionaires were created in one night.

But when she woke up again on the Saturday morning after the draw, she had the very same certain feeling… this time telling her she had won.

Ceri, 42, from Bangor, north Wales, said: "There was just something telling me when I woke on Saturday morning that I had won big on The National Lottery. It was the strangest feeling ever!"

Numerous unclaimed lottery tickets - could it be you?

Numerous lottery tickets have been bought across the UK and a number of them currently remain unclaimed – could you be a winner and set for a lucky Christmas?

The prizes are not to be missed as more than £7 million is unclaimed, with 11 prizes waiting to be won. Unclaimed lottery tickets have been bought across the UK, including in Doncaster, City of Edinburgh and Northampton plus more.

The National Lottery website explains: "The big prizes below have either not been claimed, or have not yet been validated and paid. We hope a lucky player comes forward in time but if a valid claim is not received within 180 days (around 6 months) of the draw date, the prize and any interest earned on it will go to benefit National Lottery Projects across the UK. Any unclaimed prizes 6 months past the draw date will be automatically removed."

Weirdest National Lottery winners' reactions revealed

Camelot has revealed the most amazing reactions of people who were told they had won a huge prize on the National Lottery.

Winners experience a range of emotions including crying, laughing, shouting and being speechless when their win is confirmed.

According to a poll of National Lottery millionaires, most people sat in stunned silence after making that call to find out they had, in fact, won a life-changing prize. It also found that 13% burst into tears, 5% danced and a further 13% ran around the room.

Among the winners, 1% took the news as an opportunity to book a holiday immediately. The study also discovered that 13% of winners screamed, while 3% decided to pop a bottle of Champagne, and 13% put on the kettle instead.

No more tickets for tonight’s EuroMillions

People had until 7.30pm to buy a ticket for tonight’s EuroMillions draw with a massive £46 million to be won.

Lottery winner's first six dramatic words after realising he'd won huge Lotto jackpot

A man said he couldn't believe his luck when he discovered he scooped £1million on the National Lottery - all thanks to a call from his dad.

Mal Duggan, who works as a binman in Widnes, Cheshire, won big by matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball on December 2, 2023. His dad Tony, who knows Mal's lottery numbers by heart, was the one to break the news.

Mal said: "My dad knew my numbers off by heart and he knew they were winning numbers. He didn't want to say congratulations in case I had forgotten to play. He called me and just asked 'Mal did you play Lotto last night?' and fortunately I had."

He continued: "At that point, I hadn't checked my numbers and my dad said you may just want to go online and check. I could not believe it when I did! My jaw just dropped and I just screamed 'oh my God, we are millionaires'."

National Lottery benefits good causes

Making sure as much money as possible goes towards life-changing projects is incredibly important to the National Lottery.

“In fact, it’s what we’re here for. For every ticket sold, a hefty slice of the money received goes to a huge variety of projects, both big and small – from repairing Scout huts to making Olympic and Paralympic champions,” it states.

So, every time you play, the UK wins. The National Lottery states: “We retain around just 1% of revenue in profit, while around 95% of total revenue goes back to winners and society. More so, we run one of the most cost-efficient major lotteries in Europe, with around 4% of total revenue spent on operating costs.

To date, National Lottery players have helped to raise £48 billion for Good Causes, with more than 685,000 individual awards made across the UK. With hundreds of lottery grants in every postcode district, most people will have benefited from a National Lottery-funded project at some point.

The couple are doing the bulk of the work on the former bungalow themselves. They hope to move in in the spring.

Builder who scooped £105m Lotto jackpot stuns neighbours with generous gesture

A builder who won big on a recent EuroMillions draw refused to charge his clients and told them to keep the money for Christmas presents.

Steve Thomson bagged a whopping £105million on the EuroMillions jackpot and told those he was doing jobs for they should use the cash they were set to pay him on Christmas shopping instead.

Neighbours and friends have since dubbed the builder a "top bloke" for his kind actions. Steve, who won the massive sum of cash when he was just 42, had finished installing a conservatory for a neighbour in Selsey, West Sussex when he refused payment for his hard work. It left his client over the moon, with the unnamed neighbour saying it shows the builder is a "decent man."

They said: "He didn't charge. It shows he's a top bloke, a decent man. We didn't ask him about the win because he's probably had enough of talking about it. I think it's quite nice for him to be able to work still because it takes his mind off the pressures of what to do with the money."

Countries involved in EuroMillions

EuroMillions is a lottery played across nine European countries - the UK, Ireland, Spain, France, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland. The game launched on 7th February, 2004, and has now had over 1,000 draws.

"There’s big and there’s EuroMillions big! This is the game with jackpots so enormous you can probably see them from space. Truly mind-boggling, these are the kind of prizes that can have you living the dreams," it states.

How to play EuroMillions

The draw takes place every Tuesday and Friday evening at 8pm. Players have to choose five main numbers from one to 50, along with two Lucky Stars between 1 and 12.

You can either pick the numbers yourself, purchase a Lucky Dip or use a random number generator to create an entry. You can enter up to seven lines on a single play slip at a UK retailer.

Purchase your entries before the cutoff time for that draw and remember, if playing on a draw day, that means you'll need to buy your ticket before 7.30pm. Relax and wait for the results!
