Royale Pagaille has been ruled out of the Ladbrokes King George Vi Chase due to a foot issue.

The Venetia Williams-trained jumper defeated Bravemansgame on his latest start in the Betfair Chase at Haydock. The pair were due to meet again in the £250,000 Boxing Day showpiece which Bravemansgame won 12 months ago by 14 lengths from Royale Pagaille.

But his trainer released a statement on Friday announcing that Royale Pagaille, who was a 10-1 chance with the race sponsor, would not take his chance.

"Unfortunately Royale Pagaille is unable to run in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day due to a sore foot,” the statement said.

"The timing is probably more painful than the foot itself, and hopefully he will bid for a third Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock in January."

With Royale Pagaille out and Gerri Colombe set to be declared to run in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown, there will be a maximum of six runners in the 3m race.
