Blue star Duncan James was hit with a wave of backlash on Thursday after sharing a video of himself undergoing an advanced facial treatment.

The 45-year old is no stranger to procedures, but now his Instagram followers have told him to "leave his face alone" after having "excessive" work done. In a clip on the social media platform, Duncan detailed his byonik cellular rejuvenation work, offering a behind the scenes look in Sheffield's RE-Skin Clinic.

Treated by expert and owner Rebecca Elsdon, Duncan appeared to be connected to complex equipment as she began by massaging his head. Rebecca then explained Duncan required a pulse-triggered low level laser for the work - which sees the laser triggered with every heartbeat.

Duncan revealed that he suffers from skin condition Rosacea, meaning the treatment type is perfect for his skin type as the laser helps reduce any inflammation. The complicated method sees energy from the laser energise skin cells and intensively hydrate the skin at the optimum moment.

On completion of the treatment Duncan declared: "This is the finished result and my skin is absolutely glowing." And sharing the video with his 409,000 followers, he wrote the caption: "This is me having a @byonik_official facial treatment by the fabulous @rebeccaelsdonadvancedskin ! Check it out ! Amazing results!!!! Loved it!!"

Some of his followers in the comments section clearly weren't impressed, however, with one urging: "Please leave your face alone your Good looking too much ruins it." Another moaned: "Well u have the money for it." And a third added: "You do realise there’s this thing that happens to people called ageing…"

Others were more supportive though, praising his video for clearly demonstrating how the procedure works. "Duncan, this was an excellent reel. I'm not confused. God bless you richly," one user replied. A second said: "Your skin care videos always remind me to fetch a face mask at least, thanks! Plus some beauty sleep during the holidays and there we go. Have a Merry Xmas!" And a third declared: "This is fabulous, I would like to try it! You have glowing skin!"

Speaking after Duncan's treatment, Rebecca explained to the Mirror: "As a leading expert for problematic skin conditions, Duncan came to me with concerns regarding his Rosacea. I advised Duncan to have the BYONIK treatment, which is a targeted approach to combating skin conditions which can affect both physical and psychological well being.

"The BYONIK treatment focuses on improving overall skin health and promoting the natural rejuvenation of the skin. Offering a comprehensive approach to enhancing the skin, it is used to address inflammatory issues like eczema, dermatitis, acne, and rosacea. It can work to boost the skin's immunity and natural defences, which after COVID many people are struggling with.

"The treatment aligns perfectly with the current wellness trend in the aesthetic industry, making it an appealing choice for a broad range of clients, like Duncan, seeking skin improvement and overall confidence."
