Fan-favourite soap star Charlie Lawson hit out at an airport worker for 'touching his genitals' as he passed through security.

The Coronation Street actor admitted he "almost chinned" the staff member as the 64-year-old slammed the "intrusive inspection". The Jim McDonald actor called the overzealous employee a "little pr**k" in a lengthy video shared on his Instagram.

"I've lived with intense security and body searches all my life, but it's getting a wee bit much these days. Just on occasions," he captioned the upload as he took aim at the security guard. "If you touch me down there again, son, you'll know all about it," he said.

Charlie said the airport staff had accused the actor of being 'difficult', but he simply replied: "I don't like you touching my genitals." It's not known where the soap star was flying to or from, but the clip looks as if it was filmed in the UK.

The TV legend says he found the entire ordeal "intrusive and bang out of order", adding: "I very nearly chinned someone today. We go through X-ray machines, all the rest of it, you known, and I don't think we've had problems before, so I just find it intrusive."

Fans flocked to the star's comments section to see if he was okay, weighing in on the situation. One wrote: "Agree wholeheartedly with this. These People on Security think they have the God given right to do what they like. No matter who they are, they have no right to 'Touch' People inappropriately. Bang out of order."

While someone else penned: "Absolutely unacceptable what some of these people who are put in a position of authority and power get away with. Some are so insensitive and disrespectful it is abuse and they get away with it."

A third commented: "Totally agree. I have had two hip replacements so obviously the alarm goes off when I walk through the security. They then have to get someone to come and physically check your body from head to toe."

It was in 2018 that Charlie admitted he was "reassessing life" after a terrifying stage collapse. He had a mini stroke in October that year whilst performing on stage in Edinburgh during a national tour of Rebus: Long Shadows.

He previously explained how he went deaf and started seeing white lights and knew something was "desperately wrong". Charlie confessed he had a health warning from his doctor three weeks before the ordeal, but didn't want to pull out of the show.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he said: "I was in the middle of the second half playing Rebus on stage in front of 1100 people. The first thing I remember is I went deaf, everyone went blue, white lights in my head. I don't know why I get emotional talking about it but my psychiatrist said I need to. I didn't know where I was. It was scary. I just knew something was desperately wrong."
