Hairy Bikers' Dave Myers praises Si after fans left in tears over cancer update

Following his recent cancer update, which left his adoring fans in tears, Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has heaped praise on his sidekick and close friend, Si King.

Celebrity chef and TV star Dave, 66, appeared on the latest episode of Hairy Bikers: Coming Home For Christmas on Tuesday night alongside his friend and colleague Si.

Whilst the show focused on the pair's love of food and cooking, the documentary also featured updates on his cancer diagnosis and showed him going through therapy to help him walk again.

During the episode, Dave explained why he had not divulged publicly about what cancer he specifically had, but did offer fans an update on his health and his journey to recovery amid a tough few months for the much-loved star. Opening up about his decision to keep what type of cancer he has a secret, Dave said: "I didn't want to eat. I would fall over quite a lot. By the second lot of chemo my hair came out really quite radically.

"Your hair, eyelashes, everything just goes. I've never gone on about what sort of cancer I've got because I feel like that's my business. I don't want newspapers to run a lottery on how long I've got to live. That's not what I want. I felt so guilty because of the effects it's having on my wife Lil," he explained.

Dave also gave an update on his road trips with friend and colleague Si. "My legs are going, the grin, I feel like a hysterical teenager again. I'm going to phone Kingy. It means we can get back on the road together again," he said, leaving fans an emotional wreck as he shared the emotional confession about how much their friendship means.

The celebrity chef previously praised Si, 57, for helping him through his battle with cancer, for which he is still going through treatment. He confessed that he saw their festive special as a way of showing his gratitude, as he explained: "This time we shared that food with people I owe my life too. There's the nurses, the consultants, the physiotherapists who taught me to walk again."

His co-star and best pal touchingly added: "It was the return for Dave and for me to normal a little bit and that was very precious when things haven't been for Dave particularly so by default haven't been for me either. It was lush to see Dave riding saying ''are you sure we're not turning left here''.

Dave announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer in May 2022 and he is currently still undergoing treatment for the disease.
