Bernardo Silva has warned that Manchester City are ready to prove the doubters wrong.

Pep Guardiola ’s side are six points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal in their bid to become the first club to win four successive titles after collecting just seven points from their last six games. And the Blues could be even further off the pace by the time they return from the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

‌But Silva has reminded their rivals that City have been here before. In 2019, they closed a 10-point gap to break Liverpool ’s hearts and last season it was Arsenal who suffered despite being seven points clear at one stage.

‌Silva said: “Do you doubt us? We’ll see what happens in May. Let’s see where we are then. I’m not going to say we are going to do it. But apart from my third season, when Liverpool won comfortably, we have won five in six titles.

"So no-one can say this team isn’t capable of going on a good run. We can do it and we’re going to work on that. We have shown before that this team is capable of winning games and going on a run.”

‌City’s only win in their last six games was at Luton. They have conceded late goals to draw at home with Liverpool and Tottenham, and were outplayed when losing 1-0 at Aston Villa.‌ On Saturday, they conceded two goals in the last 15 minutes to draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace and ended the weekend in fourth place.

‌Silva said: “To be honest, I wouldn’t say things are that bad. Sure, we are frustrated because we have conceded last-minute goals that have cost us important points. But the team has been playing really good if you look at the chances we’ve created and the few chances we have given up.

‌“They way we have been playing has been the same as always, but we just have to be more efficient. Apart from the Aston Villa game, when they were better than us, we definitely deserved to win all the other games. We just have to be more focused on the little details.”
