Carole Middleton branded 'Kris Jenner' after matchmaking William and Kate

Carole Middleton has been branded the "British Kris Jenner" by fans of The Crown.

It comes after the highly anticipated part two of season six, the finale season of the drama comes to a dramatic end. Bosses behind the production which focused on the reign of the late Queen Elizabeth II have previously stated that they have no plans to bring the show into the modern-day Carolean era.

The final part of season six sees the young Prince William head to St Andrew's University in Scotland, where he meets his future wife. But fans have also seen Carole Middleton's alleged matchmaking skills as she went all out to ensure her daughter, Catherine Middleton, would meet the future King.

In one scene, William was stunned to discover Kate had been on the same gap year expedition as him, arriving just days after he had left and returned to England. Other scenes include former British Airways flight attendant Carole could be seen talking to her daughter about how she should leave her boyfriend and focus her sights on William.

While the drama is not completely factually accurate, many have praised Eve Best's portrayal of Carole and her matchmaking skills for the couple, who are set to become King William and Queen Catherine. Viewers have dubbed her 'Kris Kardashian' for the storyline which sees her interfere in Catherine's life, similar to that from the Kardashian-Jenner matriach.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one viewer penned: "Kate Middleton's mom is the British Kris Jenner." A second added: "Kate's Mum is our Kris Jenner." Meanwhile, another commented: "Carole Middleton walked so Kris Jenner could run."

A fourth joked: "Watching The Crown and discovering that Carole Middleton is a British Kris Jenner was not on my bingo card. I have a whole new view of Will and Kate's relationship." Season six sees Meg Bellamy take on the role of Princess Kate, with Ed McVey playing Prince William and Luther Ford playing Prince Harry.

Although the final instalment of the series came out on December 14, the trio found out days prior that the show had been nominated for a Golden Globe. During an appearance on the Today Show, the host said: "Just moments ago, I'm not sure if my guests know this, it was nominated once again for Best Television Drama at the Golden Globes."

And the reaction from the three cast members showed that they were visibly shocked. Shortly after the cast members gasped in disbelief, the presenter continued: "Yes that just happened! I know the final season, as we know is broken into two parts. The second part premieres this Thursday and it's all about the young royals who are right here. That is the first time in that category any show has been nominated every single season it has been on. So you are already part of greatness."
