Ryan is determined to set up best friend Hugh on some low-key dates

Ryan Reynolds has reportedly been combing through his phone book to find the perfect match for best mate Hugh Jackman, who is thought to be ready to start dating again.

The 47-year-old Deadpool star has been a pillar of support for Hugh throughout his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness. The couple made a joint announcement that they were amicably ending their marriage of 27 years back in September.

The men, who are starring in the latest Deadpool movie together which is in the process of being filmed, have been pretty inseparable since the shocking divorce news broke. A week after the split announcement, 55-year-old Hugh was spotted tagging along with Ryan and his wife Blake Lively as they watched a Kansas City Chiefs game in New Jersey.

"Ryan has been there every step of the way with Hugh as he goes through his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness," an insider told the National Enquirer.

The Greatest Showman star was reportedly left devastated by the split from Deborra-Lee, who he shares kids Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18, with. Prior to the divorce, which is yet to be officially finalised, the couple had never spent more than two weeks apart since their 1996 wedding.

The couple, who have now unfollowed each other on Instagram, first met in 1995 while starring together on an Australian television show. Hugh told TODAY in 2018: "I knew two weeks into meeting Deb that we were going to be together for the rest of our lives."

Now, the Les Miserables actor feels like he might be ready to dip his toes back in the dating pool and has called on Ryan to help. The loyal pal is determined to put his extensive phone book to good use and get a smile back on his friend’s face.

"He wants to see Hugh happy again and has even suggested setting him up on a few low-key dates," a source close to the actor claimed. "He knows Hugh well and knows what will make him happy.”

Thankfully, Hugh looks like he has more of a spring in his step lately. For months, he's been worrying fans with uncharacteristically moody Instagram posts following the divorce.
