Local police have issued a new update after a body was recently found in the desperate search for missing mum Gaynor Lord.

The 55-year-old mum-of-three went missing earlier this month, on Friday 8 December, after she left her work place in Norwich city centre early. Norfolk Constabulary said her behaviour was "out of character" and previously released CCTV of what is thought to be the final sighting of Gaynor.

But today they have released another update after a body was pulled from the River Wensum, Norwich, earlier this week. They confirmed that there was no third-party involvement in the incident, thanks to a post-mortem. Alongside that, it confirmed that formal identification will take place tomorrow as it has not yet been confirmed whether the body found this week belongs to the missing mum.

Chief Superintendent Dave Buckley, Norfolk’s County Policing Commander, said: "The post-mortem examination has found no signs that any other parties were involved. Although our searches have concluded, officers are continuing to work to establish the full circumstances surrounding Gaynor’s disappearance. We will pursue all lines of enquiry to understand why she went missing. Our thoughts remain with Gaynor’s family at this incredibly difficult time."

The last video and images of the mum shows her smiling as she leaves work at Jarrold department store in Norwich city centre and then captures Gaynor making her way on foot to the park, which is around one mile from the shop.

But she also appears to enter and exit Norwich Cathedral in what police have called "a mystery 34 minutes". Officers want to know if anyone has further information around why Mrs Lord visited the cathedral. Nevertheless, they believe "everything we know is pointing to a high probability" that she entered the River Wensum.

It's here, and a nearby park, that police investigations have been centred on, until this week divers pulled a body from the water. In the park, Gaynor's coat was discovered in the river, and other clothes and jewellery were found scattered around the park.

Yesterday, a police dive team assisting in the search for Gaynor were seen pulling a large object in a black bag from the River Wensum. They had been carrying out checks at a specific part of the river, with an orange buoy placed on the spot earlier that morning. Norfolk Police said although the body has not been formally identified, Ms Lord’s family have been informed.

At the time, in a short statement today, the force said: "Police searching for missing Norwich woman Gaynor Lord can confirm a body has been found in the River Wensum. The body was found in the river by underwater search teams this morning and has now been recovered from the water. While the body hasn’t formally been identified, Gaynor’s family have been informed. They continue to be supported by specially trained officers."
