Corrie spoilers next week - sad Aggie news and character leaves after 17 years

Coronation Street has explosive scenes next week in the lead up to Christmas.

Spoilers have revealed that the cobbles will receive sad Aggie Bailey news, who was last seen on the ITV soap back in June. Elsewhere, spoilers have appeared to confirm that one character will exit 17 years after their first debut.

Also on the cobbles, Carla Connor and Peter Barlow find their relationship in trouble ahead of the latter's exit. It was revealed earlier this year that Peter actor Chris Gascoyne was leaving the ITV soap after more than 20 years with his final scenes aired this Christmas. Here's the biggest moments ahead on Corrie next week...

Sad Aggie Bailey news after months off screen

Corrie fans have long asked "where is Aggie" with her not currently on the ITV soap. Aggie Bailey actress Lorna Laidlaw was last on the cobbles as her character in June earlier this year, and since then she has not been on Corrie. ITV soap fans have been concerned over the future of the character on the ITV soap, and now new spoilers have shared sad news about the character.

Recently, an update from the Baileys confirmed she was not returning for a while, while it's not been ruled as a permanent exit yet. The latest spoilers for December now confirm she definitely is not returning for now, leaving her family gutted and leading to one character making an exit decision.

Aggie's husband Ed Bailey decides to go to Birmingham to be with his wife for Christmas, but things don't go to plan when his money issues lead to a robbery. Spoilers reveal Aggie confirms she is unable to make it home for the festive season. She does make contact though, and calls her family in the days before Christmas - but the call comes in just as Ed is having a showdown with debt collector Tony, so will she get to speak to her family?

It follows the big update last month that Aggie would not be returning to the ITV soap for the time being, and wouldn't be back this year at least. During her last appearance on the cobbles, Aggie hosted a dinner party at the Metcalfe's home trying to pass it off as her own after bumping into an old friend who she'd originally met when she had money. Aggie's disappearance has been mentioned in passing a few times since then by her family, but only to say she was caring for a relative, with no mention of when she'll return.

Corrie favourite leaves Weatherfield 17 years after debut

Coronation Street spoilers have appeared to confirm an exit will air on the ITV soap next week. Two characters including one fan favourite, who debuted on the show 17 years ago, look set to leave Weatherfield in upcoming scenes. Ryan Connor says his goodbyes after a difficult year for the character, and heads out of the street for a new life in Glasgow.

Amid his new romance with Crystal, amid the bombshell reveal over his fling with Daisy Midgeley, the character will depart the cobbles. Spoilers reveal after deciding to leave, he says his goodbyes to residents including his aunt Carla Connor and heads off in a taxi.

While it's not been confirmed that this is a permanent exit for the character, Ryan Prescott's character will seemingly leave the show as part of the storyline. Spoilers do not reveal he will be on screen after this date. Ryan has been through a lot this year, with a life-changing incident earlier this year seeing him be attacked with acid. Ryan suffered severe burns to his face and body after stopping Daisy's stalker from throwing the substance at her.

After months of hospital treatment, Ryan struggled to settle back into life on the street. Crystal had cruelly rejected him earlier this year after the attack, but in recent weeks she returned and realised she liked Ryan. What she didn't know though was that Ryan had fallen in love with Daisy, with Daisy also having feelings for him despite her being engaged to Daniel Osbourne. But it seems Ryan has moved on, and after being offered the opportunity to live in Glasgow, he seemingly agrees. Ryan's final scenes will air on Wednesday December 20 as he bids farewell to the cobbles.

Carla and Peter in emotional scenes ahead of exit

It was revealed earlier this year that Peter actor Chris Gascoyne was leaving the ITV soap after more than 20 years and his final scenes will be aired this Christmas in a "bittersweet" exit, where the special episode will be a two-hander between Carla and Peter.

In upcoming scenes, Peter confides in Tim that he’s worried his relationship with Carla has run its course as these days she’s totally preoccupied with the factory to which Tim urges him not to give up. Later, Carla returns home with a date night supper for two and suggests they watch a film. Peter’s pleased until Carla gets a call telling her the factory alarm is going off and heads back out.

Later in the week, Carla is surprised when, having said he is too busy to have lunch with her, she finds Peter cleaning the flat. Peter admits that he’s arranged to meet the mother of the donor who provided him with a new liver and she’s due round shortly. Carla insists that she’ll be by his side. How will the meeting go and will Carla be called away again?

On Friday's episode, Peter reveals that he’s got a support group meeting later to which Carla offers to go with him. At the support group, Peter admits that he’s lost all interest in life and every day has become a chore. Carla’s left deeply concerned and heartbroken to realise the depth of his despair. Later, Michael calls at the factory to find Carla busy on her laptop. When Carla shows him the Christmas present she’s bought Peter, Michael’s flabbergasted.
