Brooke Vincent has opened up about her latest role, which will see her appear on stage alongside some very famous faces.

The actress who shot to fame in 2004, playing Coronation Street character Sophie Webster is, however, no stranger to the stage and admits she's excited about returning. However, the 31-year-old who has a National Diploma in acting, also explains that there are some nerves associated with the role.

Brooke will be joining fellow northerner, Max George and Maidstone-born Samantha Gilesin Kay Mellor's The Syndicate across a UK tour. The production, which is based on the BBC One series written by Mellor, will be her final stage production. Meanwhile, Gaynor Faye, Mellor's daughter will also make her directorial debut.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror at Hits Live Manchester, Brooke said: "I'm doing The Syndicate, so we're all off doing Kay's final play. That's going to be really exciting going back to the stage, the cast of northerners!" Discussing the pressures she faces, Brooke continued: "I feel like no matter who wrote it, with things like that, everybody is super grateful to be involved. Kay is a lovely woman." Kay tragically died aged 71 in May 2022, with her loved ones explaining that she had been unwell for some time.

Speaking of the production, Gaynor Faye, Kay's daughter said: "I know that my mum would be delighted with the brilliant cast we have assembled so far and I can't wait for you all to see them in action."

Currently, the star is balancing life with her two children while also standing in for Gemma Atkinson on Hits Drive Time. Speaking about her move to radio, she told me: "I ventured into radio in 2015 with Mike Toolan to do the Breakfast Show and when Gemma went off on maternity, I was like 'Oh my God, I'd love to do it. So it's nice to be back.

"It's really nice, I love the radio, I think it's a really powerful thing to keep going, I love the rawness and realness of it." However, Brooke now admits she's able to be more Mancunian than ever before and staying close to her northern roots. She commented: "In my career, I've tried not to be as Mancunian as I am and for the first time ever, I'm totally myself with the accent."

However, the star says she hasn't faced any setbacks in the industry due to her accent as she often switches it up for certain roles. But while stepping away from Coronation Street was daunting, she says she's enjoying the time with her children at home which is the "first time" that she's had something away from the soap.

This weekend, Brooke and her family will find out if her cousin, Ellie Leach and her dance partner Vito Coppola will be crowned the winners of Strictly Come Dancing. Gushing about her younger relative, the star said: "I'm so glad that she's had this experience to be able to show people everything that we love about her. She's had this massive confidence boost and she's just getting better and better and for us to sit back at home and watch her, it's really really nice."
