Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been duped into accepting a ‘D**k of the Year’ Award by Channel 4 comedy The Last Leg.

The 43-year-old politician sparked controversy this year with her hardline approach to tackling the small boats crisis - and for branding this unfortunate enough to find themselves surviving on the streets of Britain for doing so as a “lifestyle choice”. The organisers of Channel 4 panel show The Last Leg had asked fans to vote for their least favourite public figure via the social media app X, formerly known as Twitter.

And while other names in the running for the undesirable award included Elon Musk and Justin Timberlake, it was Suella who was voted the winner by fans of the show online. And 30-year-old YouTube stars Joshua Pieters and Archie Manners were on hand to unveil an award to the political figure as part of the stunt. The lads invited Suella to join them at a bogus naming ceremony for a boat on the River Wallington in Fareham. However, instead of a boat name being unveiled, it was the unwanted award behind a curtain instead.

The YouTubers explained to the MailOnline that they had a cunning plan to coax the former Home Secretary into the prank. They said: “We knew Suella liked boats, and photocalls, so we hope she will forgive us for setting up this ruse which was really all about celebrating her and her award.”

Meanwhile, Suella herself seems to have brushed off the joke, with a source close to her arguing the stunt: “could have been a bit funnier.” The award ceremony is due to be included in the latest episode of The Last Leg which will air on Channel 4 tonight at 10pm.

Suella now joins some rather dubious other recipient of the late night show’s D**k of the Year award - as Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and former American president Donald Trump have also been winners in the past. The Last Leg has been on the air since 2012 - having been launched alongside the London Paralympic Games that year.

The series is hosted by Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker and regularly pulls in over two million viewers each week. Australian host Adam, 53, was born without one foot, while 39-year-old Alex had to have a leg amputated when he was a baby. The comedy show bills itself as “three guys with four legs talking about the week”.

Recently, however, Channel 4 has pulled back the number of episodes being made each year - with the 2023 season running eight episodes instead of the usual 10-13 episodes. When news broke that the show was to be cut back, Adam won applause for his humorous response. He wrote online at the time: “I mean, if ever there’s a show that can cope with losing a few bits, it’s ours.”
