A brand-new phone is on many people's wishlists but there's no shying away from the sheer cost with Apple, Samsung, and Google all setting prices at more than £600 for their 2023 handsets. And if you have the latest Pixel 8 on your list you'll want to stick around.

That's because GiffGaff is going up against Google by offering one of the brand's flagship phones for a fraction of the usual cost, and there's no catch. Recent sales have seen rival smartphones including the newest Apple iPhone 15 fly off shelves with cheaper prices, like ID Mobile's eye-opening £20.99 monthly rate, but users have to spend hundreds in upfront costs first before they can benefit from the lower per month price.

Budget provider GiffGaff is actually doing the opposite, as the discounted Pixel 8 comes with a small £20 upfront fee (not like ID Mobile's £169 cost) and you can still access the cheaper £22.05 a month rate. All in all, this works out to a total of £549.20, a steal compared to GiffGaff's usual £749 price.

Those who buy through the Google Store or John Lewis would pay the original £699 rate as set out by the brand during its flagship launch earlier in the year. A phone with AI at its centre, a powerful Tensor G3 processor, and upgraded sleek camera screens, the Pixel 8 is packed with Samsung and Apple-rivalling features but for a much cheaper rate.

And Google isn't the only model on GiffGaff's offer list this Christmas as there's a handy data contract up for grabs, perfect if you're hoping to unwrap a new phone on Christmas Day and need data to scroll.

The provider has more than tripled the amount of data included in its usual 120GB a month plan, as shoppers will now get a massive 500GB allowance for the first six months and for the exact same £20 a month price.

Since its 2023 launch the Google Pixel 8 and bigger 8Pro handsets are rising in popularity thanks to their wave of high-end performing features prices just less of the likes of iPhone and Galaxy models.

Meanwhile, rival network providers haven't been shy to hand out freebie deals on the Pixel 8 range since it's launch. A popular one we'd recommend keeping an eye out for inbetween the Christmas period and the January sales is getting a free Fitbit Charge 6 when you buy a Pixel 8 - yes, you'll get Google's fitness tracking device for free.
