Emmerdale's Matthew Wolfenden kisses Elf co-star after split from Charley Webb

Former Emmerdale actor Matthew Wolfenden has proved that a reconciliation with wife Charley Webb is not on the cards anytime soon as he was spotted kissing his Elf co-star.

The father of three, 43, who quit the ITV soap earlier this year, is now starring in the theatre production of Elf and has grown close to his co-star Heather Scott-Martin. The pair were seen walking hand in hand dressed casually in hats and coats. At one point, while walking along the streets of London the pair stop in the middle of the street and shared a romantic kiss, oblivious to onlookers.

According to reports, the couple had started dating before his split with Charley, who he shares three children with, Buster, 13, Bowie, eight, and Ace, four. Earlier this month, Matthew confirmed speculation of a split after five years of marriage, and has grown close to the professional dancer and personal trainer.

Heather is starring in the West End musical of Elf as Swing/Dance Captain and Matthew is starring as Buddy. The production is being held at the Dominion Theatre. She trained at the BRIT school and performing art school Bird College and since then, she has appeared in a number of stage shows including Annie, Mamma Mia, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast.

A source told The Sun: "They looked like honeymooners, or loved-up teenagers. The pictures will prove a shock to the heart for poor Charley, even as her relationship with Matthew unraveled." Matthew and Charley announced that they had ended their marriage on social media earlier this month.

Charley's statement read: "It is with love and respect that Matthew and I have decided to separate. We remain friends and our priority is the love for our children. For their sake we would appreciate privacy at this time." Speculation over cracks in their marriage emerged after Matthew unfollowed his wife on Instagram and it was noticed that he had not shared or commented on any of her pictures over the past year.

And his statement was exactly the same as Charley's but from his own perspective. Over recent weeks Charley has shared with fans that she was not in a good place after posting a selfie looking downcast. She captioned the post saying: "Ignoring life and all the jobs I need to do. Also I want more piercings."

Charley and Matthew met on the set of Emmerdale back in 2006 when he joined the soap, and became engaged just three years later, in 2009. They previously split in 2013 for two years, before having a surprise wedding in 2018 at Ripley Castle, Yorkshire.

Friends thought they were attending a party to celebrate her 30th birthday. Charley gushed: 'That moment when we announced what we were doing and seeing everybody's reaction is the best moment of my life.'
