According to beauty buffs, it's out with matte lipsticks and in with lip oils, as we've seen a rise in popularity for moisturising formulas that give just a hint of colour for a healthy lip look.

Arguably one of the most iconic picks on the market is the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil, and while this product will set you back £32, shoppers have found a lip oil they're hailing as 'much better' than this designer item - and it's £6 cheaper.

The item in question is the Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil from Merit Beauty, who launched for the first time in the UK earlier this year. This lip product has already racked up over 2,000 raving reviews on their website, with users describing it as "nourishing", "plumping," and leaving a "beautiful sheen."

Available in 12 shades to suit all skin tones, including clear, pink, peach, brown, and red, the buildable formula can be applied as many times as you like depending on how pigmented you want the colour to be. It contains skin-loving ingredients, such as rosehip oil which has antioxidant benefits, and shea butter to condition the lips, making it an ideal lip product for the colder months when dry, chapped lips can become a problem.

The vegan beauty buy is "never sticky" and has been said to "enhance your own lip colour," if you prefer a natural makeup look. It can also be worn over the top of a matte lipstick to give your pout a shine.

One person said: "I absolutely love this lip oil. It’s the perfect shade and I get so many compliments. It’s smooth, keep my lips looking plump and lasts! It’s my go to lip product I always have in my purse," while another added, "It's very moisturising and it helps lips appear less wrinkled and more full."

It doesn't have a flavour or scent, but if that is something you are after, Hailey Bieber's Rhode Peptide Treatment is £16, available in salted caramel, watermelon slice, and vanilla.

For another cheaper alternative, the Kylie Skin Lip Oil is stocked at Boots for £24 in three fruity shades passionfruit, pomegranate, and strawberry, or Revolution's Eternal Rose Lip Oil is £7 at LookFantastic.
