Apple TV+ has finally dropped its epic new series that follows the real airmen of an American bomber group in World War II. Masters of the Air is an action-packed drama that boasts a bevy of A-list stars both in front of and behind the camera.

The limited series is intended as a companion to acclaimed series Band of Brothers and The Pacific and reunites producers Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. It has been created by John Shiban – whose writing credits include The X-Files, Breaking Bad and Ozark – and John Orloff – who penned two episodes of Band of Brothers.

The crew also includes No Time to Die and True Detective director Cary Joji Fukunaga, who helms the opening four episodes of the series. Apple TV+ has said Masters of the Air is “enormous in both scale and scope,” and cites the series as a “genuine cinematic achievement.”
