A teenager has died after falling from a high-rise block of flats

A teenage girl has died after falling from a block of high-rise flats in east London, police have said.

Met Police were called to The Quarterdeck estate in the Isle of Dogs, Tower Hamlets on Monday at around 5pm. A girl, 14, was identified as the injured teen.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and took the girl to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Met Police said she felI “at height” however, it remains unclear what floor the incident happened on.

The force confirmed on Wednesday that she has since sadly passed away. It has been reported that a file is being prepared for the coroner. The family have been informed of her death and have asked for privacy at this time.

An investigation is underway to establish further details surrounding the incident. A Met Police spokesperson told The Mirror: “Police were called at 5pm on Monday, December 11 to reports that a 14-year-old girl had fallen from height in The Quarterdeck, Tower Hamlets.”

They continued: “Officers attended along with the paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. The girl was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, where she sadly died on Wednesday, December 13. Her family have been informed. Officers will work with the coroner to establish more details about the incident. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called on Monday at 4:57pm to reports of an incident at The Quarterdeck, E14. We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic in a car.

"We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. Our first medic arrived in approximately two minutes. We treated a teenager at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
