Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder fight date agreed - on two major conditions

Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder will fight in Saudi Arabia on March 9 - if they both win next weekend.

Joshua will take on Otto Wallin on the same card as Wilder's clash with Joseph Parker in the Middle East on Saturday week. Victories for both men will finally set up a huge heavyweight showdown which has been in the pipeline since they held the four world titles between them.

Should they fight in March, Joshua and Wilder will touch gloves just three weeks after Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk meet to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999. Both Joshua and Wilder retain hopes of winning back at least one of the belts and according to ESPN, a deal is place for a spring showdown.

Joshua has, however, given up hope of ever getting the chance to fight for all four heavyweight titles himself, The 34-year-old told TNT Sports Boxing YouTube Channel: “It won’t happen anymore. I think it’s just the reality. “What will happen is that Usyk and Fury are now in position to compete for the undisputed, and once they compete for the undisputed, the belts will get split up again.

"And I feel probably it would take me about five to six years to go through and get all the belts, beat all the independent champions. That will probably take me on to being 40-41, so it’s probably not in my timeframe.”

Meanwhile, Joshua claimed British rival Fury looked like a “flat slob” in his recent fight with former mixed martial arts champion Francis Ngannou. Fury narrowly avoided an upset when he beat the Cameroonian in a split decision in October.

“He just looked like a flat slob that just can’t fight. He says that bodybuilders can’t fight, but he got smacked up by one. I’ve always wanted to get in the ring with him. He does a lot of talking, calls me a bodybuilder and stuff, but I want to marvel at the African power – he’s a bodybuilder, steps in and smacks him up for me.”
