Laura Woods questions whether Anthony Joshua took "dig" during interview

TV host Laura Woods felt Anthony Joshua took a dig as they discussed his forthcoming fight with Otto Wallin.

Joshua will return to the ring next weekend when he takes on the Swede in Saudi Arabia as he shares top billing with Deontay Wilder's clash with Joseph Parker. The fights are being broadcast on both DAZN and TNT Sports with Woods now working for the latter following a stint on DAZN.

The fights will also see promoters Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren work together, and they appeared at the same press conference for the first time last month. Joshua spoke to Woods for the TNT Sports Boxing YouTube channel and started the interview by saying, "Good to see you with your new broadcaster," to which Woods replied: "I feel like that was a dig!"

Joshua added: "Now with this fight on December 23 it's like everything is changing and merging. I haven't seen this in the time I watched boxing. There was all us boxers sitting at one table taking a picture and I said it feels like the Premier League or the Champions League - a Super League."

Joshua must beat Wallin and hope Wilder beats Parker to ensure the two winners can meet next year. The Brit lost his world titles to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 before also falling to defeat in his rematch with the Ukrainian the following year. He has since began the long journey back to title contention by easing past Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius.

And the two-time world champion is confident he can return to the top of the sport. “I’m looking forward to delivering my message to Otto Wallin on December 23,” he said. “I can’t predict the future but I know what I want to do. I believe I’m going to be three-time heavyweight champion and the first step is to put a demolition job on Otto Wallin.

"It’s going to be a really good time to go to Saudi. It’s going to be big, we haven’t seen a card like this before. This is not a one-stop shop. This is a vision, this is my first stop and I will deliver the message. I’m determined to win and get back to my peak.”
