Rob McElhenney habit he can't help sums up dedication of Wrexham
Rob McElhenney has admitted that he has picked up his old habit of "staring at the table" with Wrexham sitting second in League Two following a strong run of form.
The Welsh side are enjoying themselves back in the Football League following a 15-year spell away from English football's top four tiers. The team started their recent campaign with a mixed run of results, picking up just two wins in their opening six games - with a 5-0 drubbing against Stockport closely following suit.
Having turned a corner Wrexham are now enjoying a spell of seven wins from their last ten league games. Something which has propelled the team to second in the league standings - above Barrow on goal-difference and six points behind leaders Stockport.

With the team flying high in the league, the results have prompted co-owner Rob McElhenney to react with joy at Wrexham's current standings. The 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' actor has revealed that he has taken up an old habit of staring at the league table.
"I’m back to just staring at the table again running scenarios. I took the whole first half of season off of that practice." he posted to his 1.1 million followers on X.
The post drew a positive response from fans who are also enjoying the Red Dragon's success. "Can’t wait to see @Wrexham_AFC in the @premierleague," one posted as another added: "Dont worry rob, another promotion in coming x"
While Wrexham fans and McElhenney are revelling in the good times, the actor recently revealed that his health had suffered as a result of the stress from watching the team. During his first season at the club they failed to achieve promotion from the National League, with the stress only alleviating once the team had guaranteed promotion.
“You, intellectually, know what happened,” he told The Athletic. “But you emotionally, almost forget. With my nervous system, I still feel the anxiety from the end of the Notts County game. I’ve mentioned in one of the episodes that I had a massive double style.
"You can see them in the documentary. My eyes are swollen up like I’m a prize-fighter. That was simply due to the stress. In watching some of the footage, I felt a lot of those things coming back, even though I knew it was a happy ending.”
McElhenney had little to worry about come the team's second season under their new ownership - alongside Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds. The team would win their first league title in 45 years, claiming a new record for the most points earned in a season with 111.
The success was thanks, in part, to striker Paul Mullin's 38 goals in 46 games under the guidance of manager Phil Parkinson. Mullin is still scoring on a regular basis with seven goals in 13 games for the club having missed the start of the season through injury.
Wrexham will be hoping to close the gap on Stockport when they face Colchester United next on Saturday.
