Robert Kraft has reportedly already decided that he will let head coach Bill Belichick move on from the New England Patriots after a bitterly disappointing season.

The billionaire owner was said to have made up his mind after witnessing the loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany - just one of many of their poor offensive displays this season.

Boston.com has reported that they would be parting ways for 'a variety of reasons' after the head coach has spent over 20 years with the team - winning six Super Bowls and going down as one of the great coaches of all-time.

But things have gone sour in recent years, with the team failing ever since moving on from Tom Brady.

The Patriots have just a 3-10 record which has been by far the worst of the Belichick era, with their roster looking like it will need a huge revamping this off-season - with the head coach being criticised for his decision-making over the last few seasons.

As well as being the head coach, Belichick has also acted as the general manager in recent seasons - making all significant football decisions. This, including their coaching hires and draft selections - both being underwhelming and criticised over the past five years - has landed the iconic head coach in an uncomfortable position.

Perhaps most damning has been their handling of the quarterback situation, drafting Mac Jones who impressed in his rookie season before leaving him without an offensive coordinator in 2022, which saw him regress hugely while being benched for back-up Bailey Zappe.

This past season, the Patriots once again recruited poorly on the offensive side of the ball, failing to replace any of their wide receivers who have moved on while putting Jones in a tough spot - while he himself has played poorly, along with Zappe.

The Patriots are now almost certain to start a new page of their franchise when they draft a quarterback in April, with North Carolina's Drake Maye and Southern California's Caleb Williams expected to be taken within the first three picks.

And as well as moving on with a quarterback, they now will seemingly do so alongside a new head coach.

The report adds that Belichick is 'beyond the point' of saving his job, with the Patriots either set to fire him or potentially see if they could trade him for additional draft picks.
