Tara Reid has confessed she would happily jump at the chance to reunite with her American Pie co-stars for a fifth edition of the iconic comedy.

The Hollywood actress, now 48, starred as blonde beauty Vicky Lathum in the funny flick that first hit the screens in the noughties and follows a group of high school friends on a quest to lose their virginity before they graduate. Now, over 10 years since the fourth - and so far final - edition was released, Tara has admitted she would love to get the old gang back together once again.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Tara gushed over the unique bond the group still shares and teased a new production could soon be in the works. She said: "There's so much talk about it. I mean, I just read something that about Seann [William Scott, who plays Steve Stifler] saying that he's up for it and a lot of people want to do it. So I think we're just waiting on the studio. Actually, if they say yeah, we could do it."

Tara continued: "You know, it'd be a great film to do. And it'd be so much fun making those movies. They're just so much fun, they really are, and the people involved in it are great, too."

She went on to admit that the beauty of American Pie was none of the cast ever expected it to be the huge success it turned out to be. "We had no idea that the movie was going to be as big as it was," she confessed. "And it was a lot of people's first movies on the movie, so there was a lot of innocence. Then it kept going and going and going."

Describing the bond the cast still share, Tara said: "Every time we do a film with them, it's almost like you're going away for sleepaway camp. Everyone gets along really well and it's so much fun with each other. You never forget really who you start off with. So there's a really special bond between all of us on American Pie and that's always gonna be there, for sure."

Tara continued her praise for the cast, saying that while they don't always talk, it's nice when they do meet up at certain events such as MTV Movie Awards. She did reveal however, that she has remained in close contact to Shannon Elizabeth, who starred as Nadia in the franchise, and Thomas Ian Nicholas, who played her love interest Kevin in the original. She added she also frequently keeps in touch with Mena Suvari who played the role of Heather.

While she would be keen to assemble the old cast for another production, it's far from all Tara is known for, with roles in movies such as The Big Lebowski and Sharknado also on her impressive CV.

She has starred in a host of Christmas movies, including Second Chance for Christmas, American Christmas and A Royal Christmas Ball. And Tara admitted there is always such a positive vibe on set when taking part in such productions and confessed "everyone likes to be in a Christmas movie".

It's a vibe she has definitely took into her personal life too as she beamed about already being in full holiday spirit ahead of this year's festive period, with her friends saying her home "looks like Santa's house".
