Following the tragic death of Mama June's daughter Anna 'Chickadee' Cardwell, it has been revealed that the family matriarch is currently in custody of Anna's 11-year-old daughter Kaitlyn.

Mama June announced her daughter had died at the age of 29 after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, with Anna's passing announced over the weekend.

The 44-year-old reality star took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news with fans as she said her family has been left heartbroken. Anna had been diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer back in January, but sadly died on Saturday night at home.

And now TMZ have revealed that family sources have said June is currently in custody of Anna's 11-year-old daughter Kaitlyn. Although the outlet went on to add that their sources say Anna's younger child, 8-year-old Kylee, is now living with her biological father, Michael.

According to the outlet, the plan was always in place for Kylee to move in with her dad should something happen to Anna. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn and Mama June have always had a "very close bond", which is why it is reported that "everyone in the family agrees" that Kaitlyn should live with her nan, with June "planning to becoming Kaitlyn's legal guardian".

When Mama June announced Anna's passing over the weekend, the TV star took to social media. Alongside a picture of the family, Mama June said: "With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM.

"She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her like she won’t and we will will be updating y’all with more information as we get it today. We love y’all and continued prayers and thoughts for our family doing this difficult time #mamajune #prayers #cancersucks #family."

Anna was diagnosed with stage four adrenal carcinoma in January, which was discovered after she complained to the doctor about stomach aches. After undergoing tests, doctors discovered the cancer in her liver, kidney and lung.

According to the Mayo Clinic, adrenal cancer is a rare cancer that begins in one or both of the small, triangular glands which are located on top of your kidneys. It can occur at any age.
