There's only a couple of weeks to go until Christmas and, while it's great news if you're a fan of the big day, it might be slightly alarming if you're a perennial last-minute panic shopper.

The great news is the introduction of online shopping has made it easier than ever to snap up a gift or two at short notice. One brand synonymous with Christmas is John Lewis, which famously releases a new festive-themed advert every year to much acclaim.

The retailer has helpfully set out the key dates you need to know to make sure your items arrive before Santa. We've set out the last order dates and times below.

  • Standard - last order date 7pm, 19 December, deliver/collect by 6pm, Sunday 24 December
  • Next day - last order date 8pm, 22 December, deliver/collect by 6pm, Saturday 23 December
  • Delivery by 10.30am on a nominated day last order date - 8pm, 22 December, deliver/collect by 6pm, Saturday 23 December
  • Same day delivery (selected locations only) - last order date 10am, 22 December, deliver/collect by 10pm, Friday 22 December
  • Next day delivery to a local collection point - last order date 4pm, 21 December, deliver/collect by 6pm, Sunday 24 December
  • Click and collect - last order date 12pm, 22 December, deliver/collect by store closing time Sunday 24 December

But be warned, John Lewis added that the dates and times are "subject to change depending on demand", so it makes sense to not leave it until the last minute if you can help it. There are obviously lots of other retailers where you can pick up gifts this Christmas, including the likes of Amazon, M&S and Argos.
