Boy's sweet reaction after teacher convinces him she can read his mind
Being a teacher is a tough job with long hours - but it's extremely rewarding when you get to watch the moment it all 'clicks' for one of your students. But one teacher has left millions of people scratching their heads after she shared a 'smart trick' she played on one of her first-graders.
In a viral video on TikTok, Olivia Robinson, a teacher in Nashville, Tennessee, asked one of her students to think of an animal, person, and direction - and she would use her magic powers to guess what he'd chosen. The on-screen caption said: “Convincing my first grader I can read his mind.” We can see her but only hear the child join her at her desk. She clears her throat in anticipation. Alright so, are you ready? Are you sure”, she asks. He said: “I’m nervous”.

“You’re nervous? I should be the one who should be nervous in case I mess up,” she said. “Alright, so I want you to think of one animal. Think of an animal, any animal.”
“It’s my favourite animal,” the first grader said. She writes which animal she thinks he has chosen on a Post-it note with a pink marker and folds up the paper. “Alright now, I wrote it down and I’m folding it up and I’m going to put it right here,” she said.

“Now you can say your animal because I already wrote my answer so, what was it?” He looked at the Post-it and said: “I can see it.” She laughs and answers: “No, you can’t see it," dismissing his joke. “A cat,” He answers finally. She continued: “Alright, now I want you to think of a person, one person.”
“Anybody?” He asked. “Any person, any person in the world,” she replies with a knowing smile as she writes her answer on another Post-it. “This is a long letter,” he laughs. She answered: “You got it? I wrote it down, now I’m going to fold it up and put it tight here. Now tell me what it is? Who it is?” He sweetly answered: “My mum."
“Your mum, that’s so cute, I love it,” she said. “Alright now I want you to do the same as last time, I want you to think of up or down. You got it? Alright.” He added: "OK I got it, and I’ll put mine right over here. So what was it? Up or down?” she said. “Down,” he answered excitedly.
She reaches over to her Post-it notes where she had written her answers, where she had supposedly read his mind. “OK so, the animal you were thinking of was a cat. And your favourite person or the person you were thinking of was, mum. And up or down you were thinking down, right?” she said.
“How did you know?” He asked in amazement, gesturing if it was his body language. “No, because I can read your mind,” She replied with a laugh. In the caption she wrote: “Sweet boy ran back and told the whole class”.
TikTok users shared in the first grader's amazement in how she pulled off the trick. One said: “Wait, I don't get it. how'd you do it?” Another agreed: “Am I the only one wondering how she did that though?”
Everyone seemed to be perplexed, one more person said: “I understand except for the up/down arrow when did she write it and how did she know?” And others were enthralled by her fun and relaxed teaching style. One person commented: “He's never going to forget you.”
