Woman mauled to death by her neighbour's three shepherd dogs
A woman has been mauled to death in her garden after being attacked by three shepherd dogs.
The 50-year-old man was attacked around midday in Neochorouda, a village around 10 miles northwest of Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece.
The dogs escaped after finding a hole in their owner's fence and running in to the woman's garden, where she was working at the time. A deaf-mute man was said to be helping her at the time, but couldn't hear the screams because she was too far away.
On arriving at the scene, emergency responders found the woman - who had been severely mauled and was bleeding heavily - but she couldn't be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.
The dog owner, a 37-year-old whose gender was not shared, was arrested and will appear in court on Monday morning. The dogs have been taken to a kennel where they'll be euthanised.
Furious chimp launches bottle at girl filming him leaving her bleeding at zooGreek broadcaster ERT reported that the victim's two sons, aged 17 and 18, heard their mum crying out but were too late to save her. Her ex-husband told the broadcaster that the dogs were "huge, wild ones" and they had breached the perimeter on "many times" and chased people on a number of occasions. "It's not the first time", he said.
The woman was a longstanding member of the community, living in the area for 20 years and was a candidate in local elections, reports Ta Nea. Earlier today a video emerged of a dog, reported to be an XL Bully, launching a brutal attack after their owner lost control of them on a train platform.
The video, believed to be filmed at Stratford station in East London yesterday evening, showed the shocking moment a man falls over near the edge of a platform as a train approaches and he's attacked by a large dog. Two huge dogs seen in the footage reportedly belonged to a woman seemingly struggling to control them when one man stepped in to try and help her.
He was said to have offered to hold one dog so she could put the leash on the second. However, it was then that the animal seemed to turn on him. The video shows the dog controlled by the man leaping up and down at him, snapping at him as he struggles to keep it under control.
