Prince William jibe aimed at Aston Villa title hopes after win over Arsenal
Aston Villa have been told the idea of them winning the Premier League this season is "sheer fantasy", despite Unai Emery's currently sitting just two points behind leaders Liverpool.
Villa picked up 1-0 wins over title contenders Manchester City and Arsenal in the space of just four days, prompting suggestions they could be genuine challengers this season. However, Garth Crooks does not think they have any chance of winning the league.
Having named their captain John McGinn in his Premier League Team of the Week for BBC Sport, Crooks claimed there is "more chance of Prince William taking charge of Villa's remaining fixtures than them winning the Premier League".
"What a week this has been for Villa," Crooks wrote. "Not only did they beat the champions City in midweek they went on to put their most dangerous title challengers to bed. City may have been having a bad time but Arsenal were not.
"Villa's victory over the Gunners is a good indicator of how far they have come under Unai Emery. Remember this was a man who managed Arsenal not so long ago and was shown the door.

"The real hero of the side at the moment is their captain McGinn. The Scot is playing the football of his life and can slot into almost any role required of him. However, talk of winning the title is sheer fantasy.
"There's more chance of Prince William taking charge of Villa's remaining fixtures than them winning the Premier League." When asked about Villa's title credentials following their win over Arsenal, Emery replied: "We are there because we deserve it. They are going to speak more about us.

"If we are getting to the 30th or 32nd game of the season, in the same position, I can send another message." McGinn, meanwhile, joked he will be banning talk of a title challenge within the dressing.
He said: "I'm banning the T-word. It's game-week 16, so there's a long way to go. We respect everyone around us who has been in these positions for years. They are so experienced. We're newbies, can we keep it up? I don't know. We'll see."
