Son joins Premier League greats as only 7th player to hit impressive landmark
Son Heung-min's latest match-winning performance for Tottenham also saw the South Korean etch his name into the record books.
The attacker scored his side's final goal in their 4-1 thrashing of Newcastle on Sunday evening. He also notched two assists in the clash with the Magpies to help get Spurs back on track in the race to claim a Champions League place.
Ange Postecoglou's side had been without a win in five Premier League games heading into the clash with Eddie Howe's men. The game was also symbolic for another reason, with Son adding his name to an exclusive club made up of Premier League greats.
With his late penalty, the Spurs skipper became just the fifth player to score 10 or more goals in eight successive seasons. He follows Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, Thierry Henry and Sadio Mane in reaching the landmark.
Rooney has the most successive seasons with 10 or more goals with 11, with Lampard close behind on 10. Aguero and Kane both have nine, while Henry and Mane both ended their Premier League careers with eight.

Son was named captain by Postecoglou following Kane's departure for Bayern Munich in the summer. And the importance of his skipper in Sunday's win was not lost on Postecoglou, who hailed the attacker.

They put in a massive effort today. We were brighter in the front third, I thought Sonny was excellent and that sort of thing feeds off to the other guys," the Tottenham boss told Sky Sports.
"You rely on your leaders to take initiative; we could have had more goals but our attacking play was as good as it has been for a while. We have had to battle away and come January we'll get players back."
Son was also delighted to see Spurs claim a much-needed three points, which lifted them to fifth in the table. The South Korean called on his team-mates to use their win over the Magpies to kickstart their campaign again.
"Obviously, when you’re winning the game you enjoy it more. Bouncing back like that was important, we don’t want to make mistakes. I hope we can continue to perform like this and stay humble," he said.
"I said it before, we have to be more ruthless in their box, especially when they drop deep. You also have to be clinical. Beating Newcastle 4-1 is not easy, they are a strong side. Credit to the players and fans.
"We are playing in the Premier League and we have to demand more and more. It is never enough, look at the amazing teams, they keep going and going. Today was another good lesson."
