Strictly 2023 finalists announced as three couples battle for Glitterball Trophy

Strictly Come Dancing 2023 is almost over, with three couples left in the BBC competition.

After months of training and battling it out against their co-stars, it all comes down to this with three stars remaining. On Sunday evening, viewers saw one last couple lose their place show, with them missing out on a spot in the final.

Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe faced the dreaded dance-off for the final time, with Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell being the other opponents. The judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Head Judge Shirley Ballas had to choose who to save and who to send packing, with them sending home Annabel.

As three dancing couples prepare to compete for the final time to win the Glitterball Trophy, with the winner decision out of the judges' hands, who is still standing? Here we detail the three finalists, and when fans can watch the final.

Who is in the final?

There are just three finalists this year alongside their professional dance partners, where usually and in most series there are four pairs. The shake-up came about as two different couples were forced to pull out of the show on medical grounds this series.

Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice and then Nigel Harman and Katya Jones both separately withdrew from the competition in recent weeks. Amanda left the show quite early on due to medical reasons.

Just recently, Nigel was forced to quit the show before the next live episode after sustaining an injury in rehearsals. This year's finalists are Layton Williams and his partner Nikita Kuzmin, Ellie Leach and rumoured beau Vito Coppola and Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell.

When is the final and what time is it on?

The live final of the latest series is just a week away and will air next weekend on BBC One. Called Strictly Come Dancing: The Final, the big episode will air live on Saturday 16th December at 7pm, on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

All of the pros will reunite as ever alongside the former contestants who have left the show over the past few months. Only one couple can win and raise the Glitterball Trophy, and that decision lies with the viewers watching at home.
