Nick Pickard has emerged from camp to reveal a host of jungle secrets - with some shocking and hilarious scenes we haven't seen on screen.

The Hollyoaks star, 48, who has been playing Tony Hutchinson since 1995 on the show, was the fourth person to leave camp via the public vote. He praised his campmates but said boxer Tony Bellew was even more petrified of creepy crawlies than we had seen on screen and had some sleepless nights in camp.

On his second day, Bellew used his mic like a phone to alert producers to a spider but was not happy with how it was dealt with. Nick explained: "We had some funny moments Tony, there was one night in Snake Rock on the second night because it takes a while after the first couple of days to adjust.

"We saw he's walking around and I thought 'what is he doing' because we've all got the radios on and he's going 'guys guys guys' talking into his mic. I thought he was talking to himself but he goes 'There's a massive Spider in here'.

"It was on the TV and it was like a tarantula. But the guys send in the security and I mean like you know, you don't never see them on the telly but the security guys come in and couldn't catch him because they're fast. And so he just batted it into the bushes and went 'you're alright it's just a huntsman right'.

"But yeah a Huntsman isn't great when you don't like the sound of it. Tony never went to bed the rest of that night yeah! He said 'I'm not sleeping in there, it was massive'. That was funny."

Tony also put his foot in it - literally - when the camp was trying to eat. But they were so hungry they forgave his antic. Nick added: "Tony's messing around trying to get something sorted and he accidentally put his size 12s right in the food. But all 12 People still queued up for seconds! We was like I don't care, so we'd have new lows every day, how low we've sunk."

Nick also showed off a rash on his body caused by the creepy crawlies he tackled his final trial Critical Mixer. As well as the rash on his leg, neck and arms he also sported some giant bruises. He said: "I've taken a few antihistamines and they've assured me it will go in a day. But it is all on my legs you see? I mean, that was my worst trial one by a country mile. Because that was the only time I genuinely thought about saying the magic words 'Get me out of here', but I didn't know that it was about the fifth star that came in. And I didn't know if I called it would I still get the five stars, so I thought no I better not."

One person who did shout 'Get me out of here' was Jamie Lynn Spears. But Nick said even that didn't go smoothly for her, and she was left waiting hours for her exit, even when she had confirmed with bosses she was going. The problem was she decided to leave around the time the camp was almost evacuated because of storms.

In scenes not shown on screen, Nick added: "We had 12 days of rain and once for 48 hours it did not stop. That was the night Jamie Lynn went and we had to all huddle, because the only place that's protected in there from the lightning is the Bush Telegraph because it's the only place that is reinforced with steel. So we're all in there. And we were in there for ages. And that's when Jamie Lynn had the old like 'oh my god' moment.

"I think she told him just before that she was going on her medical grounds and we're all huddled in. That was the worst night by far because it was 48 hours non-stop.

"We couldn't wait to get out of there. But then we had to go back out. It was still raining and the thing is with the canopy when it's even there, the rain still comes in from the side when it's tropical like that."

Despite not being on screen much, Nick said Danielle Harold was a "trooper" and non stop worker. Even when she was made camp leader so banned from doing the traditional chores she was doing laundry for Nigel Farage and Sam Thompson. Turning to discuss fan favourite Sam along with Marvin Humes, Nick said: "He was like putting on the telly. Marvin was the jukebox. Sam was a TV. "Sam wanted to do everything and wanted to help you and he's just like a little boy. And not that we're not all fans of the show but I think he's the biggest fan of the show, he knows what we will do every day.

"I think I would say they all deserve to win in my book. But if you're going for my personal favourite, I think it would be Sam only because it's just his energy. And also if he doesn't win I want him to be there at the end because his bucket list is the cyclone trial. Because once you've done the cyclone you've ticked all the boxes.

"For me, I can't say I'm not pleased to be out because for me I've done everything I could do in there, I went in there for my family. I wanted them to see me do a couple of trials and a few challenges. I wanted to have a nice time and hopefully not make a d*** of myself so I think I have done that."
