Jermaine Jenas will host Formula E coverage from next month after a new TV deal was struck with TNT Sports.

The all-electric racing series has agreed a multi-year contract with the broadcaster ahead of its 10th season. And former Tottenham footballer Jena s has been hired to lead the coverage alongside Formula E regular Nicki Shields.

The sport's bosses hope the new TV deal will help it to be more visible to fans after its previous arrangement with Channel 4 was cut short. That deal had the advantage of live coverage being free-to-view in the UK, but too often the broadcast was restricted to digital platforms and not available on C4's TV channels.

All 17 races in 2024 are set to air on TNT Sports with live and on-demand streaming also available on Discovery+. Season 10 of the Formula E championship begins with the Mexico City E-Prix on January 13.

It represents a new milestone for Jenas in his broadcasting career. Since retiring from playing, he has established himself as one of the country's top football pundits and diversified his presenting experience as a host of the BBC's The One Show.

Regarding his new Formula E gig, he said: "Since retiring from football I never thought I would find a sport that I loved as much but Formula E is a sport like nothing else.

"I couldn't be more excited to take on this incredible presenting role and travel the world with such amazing teams. To get in front of the camera and share that energy and action with viewers is a whole new challenge and adrenaline rush for me and I'm really looking forward to it."

Shields is not the only familiar face to join Jenas on the presenting line-up. Tom Brooks continues as lead commentator for the series while Karun Chandhok, who also forms part of the Sky Sports coverage of Formula 1 in the UK, continues in his role.

Radzi Chinyanganya and Saunders Carmichael-Brown return as pit lane reporters along with former racer Allan McNish. And there will also be some fresh additions to the team alongside Jenas.

That includes former Formula E driver Andre Lotterer, who spent six seasons racing in the series, rallying star Catie Munnings and young racer Billy Monger. David Coulthard and Jamie Chadwick are also lined up to make guest appearances across the season.
