Watford have paid tribute to long-serving fan Peter Arokiasamy after his death from a heart attack he suffered during a women’s game last month.
The incident occurred during last month’s game between the Hornets’ women’s side and Sheffield United in the WSL 2. He suffered a heart attack during the game and received treatment from paramedics, with an ambulance subsequently being called.
Unfortunately, Arokiasamy passed away following the incident. Watford and his family have now been left in mourning following the news.
A statement from the Championship side on Wednesday read: “All at Watford FC were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a supporter who attended the Watford FC Women fixture against Sheffield United on Sunday November 19.
“Peter Arokiasamy, a football enthusiast who had lived in Watford for 50 years, passed away in hospital having suffered a heart attack during the first half of the match at the Vicarage Road Stadium.

“On-site staff from St John Ambulance were alerted immediately to the incident by stewards, with paramedics and the Crowd Doctor also called to the scene. An ambulance arrived soon after and transported Peter to Harefield Hospital.
“Watford FC representatives have been in contact with Peter’s family – who expressed their gratitude to the club for the timely and expert care he received – and our thoughts are with all relatives and friends at this extremely difficult time.”

They played a FA WSL Cup game just three days after the incident but fell to a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
The side are back in action this weekend as they travel to Southampton for a FA Women’s Cup showdown, before their next league game against London City next Sunday. Watford currently sit bottom of the league with just one win from their opening 11 games of the campaign.
