Larian Studios has shared several fun Baldur’s Gate 3 stats, highlighting all the fun ways players have engaged and interacted with the 2023 GOTY contender.

By this point, it’s surely only a matter of time before Baldur’s Gate 3 is crowned game of the year at this year’s The Game Awards event. Larian Studios’ fantasy RPG has quickly become beloved by every PlayStation and PC player who’s experienced it, with rumours suggesting that it won’t be long before Xbox players also get to try their hand at the tactical, choice-driven adventure. So popular has Baldur’s Gate 3 been this year that the studio behind it has released an avalanche of fun stats breaking down how people have played the game.

As revealed by a Twitter thread posted by the official @larianstudios account, Shadowheart comes out on top as the companion character most romanced by players with 51.3% reaching the end of her arc. She is swiftly followed by Karlach and Lae’zel – all female characters, interestingly. Then there’s the fact that players across both current platforms have spent a combined total of 8196 years in the character creator. Although 94% played the game this way, Gale serves as people’s most-played origin character to date.

Larian Studios also wasn’t shy in sharing stats related to Baldur’s Gate 3’s quirkier side. For instance, it’s been revealed that 1.2 million players have been transformed into a sentient wheel of cheese as a result of spinning Akabi’s wheel incorrectly. The bizarre fun continues in relation to the ever-popular pet the dog meme, as the stats show that Scratch has been petted over 48.5 million times by players.

Finally, I can see

Larian Studios wasn’t short on interesting facts with regards to Baldur’s Gate 3. There are far too many to pay full mention to, but here are a few more of our personal favourites.

Why Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's six week delay is a good thing qhiqqhieeiqhtinvWhy Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's six week delay is a good thing
  • 452,556, 984 hours is the total playtime for Baldur’s Gate 3 across platforms…
  • Which translates to 51,662 years.
  • 34,000 players have already died in Honor Mode which only just launched in Patch 5.
  • 1.3 million players have completed the game and rolled credits.
  • Paladin is the most popular class, Elf the most popular race.
  • 84 million fireballs have been thrown.

It’s fair to say that 2023 has been Baldur’s Gate 3’s year, then, remaining part of people’s conversations since it launched in a way other heavy-hitters like Starfield and even The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom failed to. These stats are only guaranteed to increase should Larian Studios fulfil its promise of releasing the Xbox Series X|S version before the end of this year.
